Cupping is a therapeutic technique that uses gentle suction in order to release muscle tension, reduce inflammation and relieve pain. Cupping has been used for thousands of years. Our cups are made of silicone and will be used through the course of your massage in order to increase the results of your session. Please be aware that cupping may leave a “Cupping Mark” in areas of tissue congestion. This is not a bruise and will go away from 3-10 days. Should you desire to not have a “Cupping Mark” left your therapist can modify treatment to be even more gentle. You will need to inform your therapist before your session begins. “Cupping Marks” will decrease in occurrence as the tissues become healthier after a series of cupping sessions. It is also good to be aware that there are a few extra contraindications for cupping. 1.Those who are pregnant may not receive cupping during pregnancy and up to 3 months after giving birth. 2. Any conditions that can be negatively affected by increased circulation. 3. Frail skin or skin that bruises easily 4. Lymphnode removal or radiation 5. On an anticoagulant medication.*
